[Satellite Today 01-22-09] SES Astra’s new Astra 1M satellite has been deployed at its final orbital position at 19.2 degrees East and is ready for commercial operations, the company announced Jan. 20.
The satellite, built by EADS Astrium and launched late last year, has passed all in-orbit tests of the hardware and broadcasting functionalities on board, SES said.
The Astra 1M satellite has 36 transponders and will deliver DTH and HDTV services to continental Europe.
