[Satellite Today 07-31-08] BSkyB has had another strong quarter and now has nearly 9 million direct-to-home subscribers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, the company said July 31. BSkyB added 92,000 net new subscribers in the quarter that closed at the end of June.
BSkyB now has 498,000 high-definition subscribers, adding 33,000 new customers in the quarter. In terms of broadband, BSkyB now has more 1.6 million subscribers.
BSky also cut its annual churn to 9.8 percent, down two percentage points from a year ago. More than half of BSkyB’s customer base now receives more than one service from the operator, compared to less than 40 percent a year ago, the company said.
