[Satellite Today 07-03-07] Orbcomm Inc. reported net additions of more than 40,000 billable subscriber communicators, the company announced July 2. The gains included about 32,400 satellite and 8,100 terrestrial subscriber.
The company now has a total subscriber base of more than 420,000, a 10.6 increase over the same period in 2007.
In June, Orbcomm placed six news satellite into orbits that are expected to begin operations within three months. The launch is part of Orbcomm’s term plan to expand and upgrade its constellation of 29 satellites. Orbcomm plans to launch 18 satellites in three separate missions of six satellites each in 2010 and 2011.
