Australia Network, the Australian Broadcasting Corp.’s international TV channel, has acquired additional capacity from Intelsat under a renewal of its multiyear contract, the Fixed Satellite Services announced Dec. 19.
Australia Network will use the additional capacity to expand its reach beyond its existing Asia-Pacific footprint to include cable neighborhoods in the South Asian region served by PAS-10. The additional capacity also positions Australia Network to move into new markets in the Middle East and India. Intelsat also will provide turnaround services from its leased teleport facilities in Singapore.
