TSAT Router Component Passes Test

By Staff Writer | April 23, 2007

A Transformational Satellite Communications (TSAT) component showed that it could work, according to Northrop Grumman Corp. [NOC].

TSAT is provided by Lockheed Martin Corp. [LMT] and Northrop.

The team announced that proof of functionality of the TSAT Next Generation Processor Router (NGPR) was seen in testing by the government, according to Lockheed.

This means TSAT is ready to enter the next phase of its program, to provide an advanced generation of protected, wideband satellite communications for military and intelligence users.

Using high-speed optical communications, Internet Protocol network routing, and communications-on-the-move capability, TSAT will increase connectivity, speed and mobility for warfighters.

The Aerospace Corp., which provides technical support to USAF on the TSAT program, also participated in the test.
