Following the close of Satellite Today‘s March 9 edition, Cablevision announced that it has reached an agreement with company Chairman Charles Dolan and Thomas Dolan, executive vice president of Cablevision Systems, under which both parties agreed to work cooperatively to finalize the separation of Rainbow DBS from Cablevision. Rainbow DBS is the direct-to-home satellite television service currently operated by Cablevision and offers its service under the Voom brand name. According to Cablevision, Charles Dolan agreed to fund any costs incurred by Rainbow DBS above those that would have been incurred under a shutdown scenario. The agreement, which was approved by the Cablevision board of directors and a special committee of independent directors, terminates on March 31.
