El Segundo, Calif.-based DirecTV trumpeted a legal award it won yesterday by issuing a press release calling attention to a federal judge ruling in a courtroom clash with Pegasus Satellite Television [PGTV]. The judge ordered Pegasus to pay damages of approximately $62.6 million in a breach of contract matter. That amount includes pre-judgement interest on a previously announced jury verdict that sided with DirecTV, the U.S. satellite TV arm of The DirecTV Group [DTV].

The jury previously had returned a verdict in DirecTV’s favor for $51.5 million but yesterday’s ruling added interest of $11.1 million owed to DirecTV by Pegasus, said Bob Marsocci, vice president of communications at DirecTV.
