Latens Secures Key Scandinavian CA Deal

By Staff Writer | May 17, 2004

Latens is to provide a next-generation Conditional Access (CA) system to Norwegian broadband operator Lyse Energi, a Norwegian power utility. Lyse Energi offers multi-channel TV and video on demand services as part of its triple-play offering over an advanced fiber to the home (FTTH) network to its customer base. The Norwegian digital television market is a competitive one with two satellite pay-TV operators, Viasat and Canal Digital, also competing in the market.

The ambitious CA provider also announced it will open a U.S. office where it will look to secure deals with cable and broadband operators in the region. Dean B. Kashlan, previously of Irdeto Access, joins Latens and will run the office, which will be based in Atlanta.
