Verizon Business added Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity services from Skylo to its suite of global IoT offerings, Verizon announced on March 5.
Verizon’s IoT customers can access wireless services across 200 territories worldwide, combining satellite, roaming, and native eSIM services.
In the United States, Verizon’s work with satellite service provider Skylo will extend network coverage to areas with limited cellular connectivity. Verizon plans to expand this service internationally in the future.
Verizon is already working with Skylo on the consumer wireless side for direct-to-device messaging on compatible Android devices.
Verizon Business also announced a deal with Singapore-based operator Singtel for its Global IoT Orchestration service to activate customer devices internationally using partner mobile network operator (MNO) networks.
“We’re thrilled to see Global IoT Orchestration in-market now and satellite-enhanced IoT coverage in the U.S. to be available nearterm, enabling worldwide connectivity for our customers from the best partners in the industry,” said Shamik Basu, vice president of Strategic Connectivity at Verizon. “We’re proud to offer an IoT capability that’s expansive, mobile, and conveniently managed through Verizon ThingSpace.”
