SNC-Lavalin PAE has selected Harris [NYSE: HRS] as its preferred supplier of communications and information services for the Canadian armed forces. The Harris contract is part of a larger C$200 million ($136 million) Canadian Forces Contractor Augmentation Program awarded to SNC-Lavalin PAE as the prime contractor to deliver to the Canadian Department of National Defence private, contractor-provided communications services.

Under terms of the five-year contract with SNC-Lavalin, Harris will provide integration and provisioning services required to establish secure voice, video and data communications during global deployments of Canada’s military forces. Depending upon specific deployment requirements, Harris would supply specific packages such as communications hardware and satellite communications services. Some of the first services may be required as early as this summer.
