Comtech to Enhance Brazilian Air Traffic Control System

Comtech Systems, a subsidiary of Comtech Government Solutions, signed a $4 million contract with the Brazilian Armed Forces to expand a satellite-based network for its air traffic control system. In an June 24 announcement, the company said it would provide the military with new remote satellite terminals and services under the new contract.

“Our long-standing leadership position with the Brazilian military has firmly established Comtech as the choice for advanced satellite communication solutions,” Fred Kornberg, President and CEO of parent company Comtech Telecommunications said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to work with the Brazilian military on this and future opportunities.”

Comtech Systems specializes in system design, integration, supply and commissioning of turnkey communication systems including over-the-horizon microwave, line-of-sight microwave and satellite.  This is Comtech’s second South American ground systems contract announced during the past two months. In April, the company signed an agreement with Claro Argentina to connect rural communities throughout Argentina with high-speed 2G/3G and LTE backhaul.
