Space-based positioning and navigation solutions firm TrustPoint successfully demonstrated its C-band signals in the presence of GNSS interference, a milestone listed under its contract with U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).
During the demonstration, TrustPoint and its contract partner Hexagon, a measurements technology company, successfully operated an enhanced C-band receiver developed by a Hexagon subsidiary NovAtel.
TrustPoint said the successful demonstration accelerates the commercialization of its C-band GNSS-independent PNT service and proves it can deliver positioning capability in environments where GPS is degraded or denied by modern electronic warfare. Demonstrating this capability was required under the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II Contract TrustPoint received from the Naval Air Warfare Center – Aircraft Division (NAWCAD).
“For the first time, C-band signals have operated through interference on a receiver the industry already trusts. This is a new baseline for what resilient PNT means,” Patrick Shannon, founder and CEO of TrustPoint, said in the announcement. “NovAtel and TrustPoint have proven it works. Now we build on it.”
Shannon and TrustPoint won SATShow’s Startup Space competition in 2025. Later that same year, the company achieved the first live-sky transmission and real-time reception of a C-band GNSS signal.
