Space-based communications and intelligence provider CesiumAstro acquired a Virginia-based mission software and defense systems engineering company, 1Aardvark.
Both companies announced the acquisition on Tuesday. The combination brings CesiumAstro’s satellites, communications systems, and computing capabilities together with 1Aardvark’s mission software, which is designed to enable distributed systems to coordinate and execute missions in contested or disconnected environments.
CesiumAstro said the combined entity will more effectively be able to support missions in which spacecraft must respond to changing conditions and continue operating when connectivity is limited or disrupted.
“1Aardvark brings deep mission software expertise that complements the systems we already build and will help us deliver more complete, resilient capabilities to the U.S. government faster,” Shey Sabripour, founder and CEO of CesiumAstro, said in the announcement.
This is the third acquisition CesiumAstro has made in 2026 as it looks to create a full stack space-based defense intelligence offering for government customers. Earlier this year, the company also acquired Vidrovr, an artificial intelligence company focused on real-time data analysis, and earlier this month Cesium announced a deal for Jariet Technologies, a U.S.-based semiconductor company.
