[Satellite TODAY 08-11-11] Gilat’s second quarter 2011 revenues were $81.7 million — a 58 percent increase compared with the $51.8 million Gilat generated in the second quarter of 2010.
According to Gilat’s most recent financial results issued Aug. 10, the company generated $900,000 in net income during the quarter $0.9 million, compared with a net loss of $1.3 million in the same period last year.
In a statement, Gilat Chairman and CEO Amiram Levinberg said the quarter was highlighted by several key customer wins. “Our partnership with Optus for the Australian National Broadband Network (NBN) and our strategic win for SES’ Ka-band consumer network represent an important vote of confidence in Gilat and open the door to future opportunities in one of the industry’s largest growth engines.”
Separately, Gilat announced that it has been selected by an unnamed customer to deliver an on-the-move satellite communications solution as part of a security initiative aimed at combating internal and border threats. The initiative, valued at more than $10 million, will see Gilat’s Raysat Antenna Systems subsidiary provide equipment and services, including more than 100 StealthRay satellite-on-the-move antennas.
