[Satellite TODAY 08-03-11] Com Dev International has received an authorization to proceed with an agreement to make equipment for two commercial satellites from an unnamed prime contractor, the company announced Aug. 2.
The Canadian satellite hardware manufacturer said that the initial value of the contract is worth $7 million, but that it expects the final contract to be worth $14 million when the final deal is put in place by the end of August.
The contract follows a similar authorization that Com Dev received in April to commence engineering work and provide equipment for a new mobile communications satellite.
Com Dev is providing Ka- and Ku-band switches, multiplexers and filters for the mobile satellite. Work on that contract will be carried out at the company’s facility in Cambridge, Ontario with completion expected by the middle of its 2012 fiscal year.
