[Satellite TODAY 01-21-10] Data Technology Solutions (DTS) has launched the DTS Global Connect solution, an integrated satellite broadband offering for the maritime market, the company announced Jan. 20.
    The solution is built on iDirect‘s next generation Evolution DVB-S2 platform and works with a 60-centimeter Ku-band antenna. DTS Global Connect bandwidth can be shared among multiple vessels in a fleet to support bandwidth intensive applications.
    “DTS’ decision to select iDirect for its latest hub stems from a long lasting relationship that DTS employees have had with iDirect technology and support personnel. Another reason for choosing iDirect was the ability to do multiple beams within one single chassis and having the ability to switch beams between networks,” Mike Guidroz, president of DTS, said in a statement. Service for the new solution is being offered at flat-fee monthly and daily rates without the requirement to sign a one-year contract.
