[Satellite TODAY 09-24-09] The maiden launch of the SpaceX Falcon-9 rocket has been scheduled for Nov. 29, according to the most recent 90-day Eastern Range forecast released by the U.S. Air Force on Sept. 21.
The medium-lift, nine-engine vehicle will take off from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.
The Falcon-9 is being prepared to transport cargo and crew into space. The company received funding from NASA through the Commercial Orbital Transportation Services (COTS) contract, which was awarded in December.
In May, the rocket’s debut was delayed due to unfinished technical work and incomplete U.S. Air Force safety documentation.
