Thales Alenia Space Sees Strong Order Flow

[Satellite Today 07-29-09] Thales Alenia Space has seen a significant increase in order intake in the first half six months of 2009, according to the company’s 2009 first-half results issued July 27.
In the six months to the end of June, the company had an order intake of 905 million euros ($1.3 billion), an increase of 30 percent compared to the same period last year. Thales Alenia Space won orders from the European Space Agency, Eutelsat and Globalstar during the six-month period.
Despite the order increase, Thales Alenia Space reported only a small increase in revenues for first half compared to 2008. The company said revenues were impacted as a result of an April earthquake which damaged facilities in at L’Aquila, Italy. The disaster led to delays in securing finances for its new satellite constellation projects.
