Capella Space Hires Former Virgin Galactic CFO Jon Campagna

Earth Observation (EO) data company Capella Space has hired its first CFO. Jon Campagna, the former CFO of Virgin Galactic, will be joining Capella’s executive team along with Julie Ambory as VP of People and Nate Ricklin as VP of Product Engineering.

Campagna has over 20 years of experience at both public and private companies, including Ericsson and ICON Aircraft. As CFO of Virgin Galactic, he led its transition to a public company via a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger in 2019.

Julie Ambory held HR leadership positions across multiple industries and organizations, including Medtronic, First Data Corporation, Bank of America, Motorola, and Honeywell.

Nate Ricklin will lead the architecture, development, and execution of Capella’s Earth Observation products and services. He previously served at Arturo.ai, EarthWatch, SecureWatch, and Maxar Technologies, where he led engineering for GBDX, a cloud-based platform-as-a-service that applies artificial intelligence to satellite imagery.

Capella is currently building and launching a constellation of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery satellites providing high-resolution imagery and data on demand.
