Nvidia is making a minority investment into German satellite manufacturing startup Reflex Aerospace, announced this week during the Invest in Germany Summit. Reflex said the investment will help expand production in Bavaria and advance the company’s satellite platform architecture.
Nvidia has been making inroads into the space industry with new chips for space missions announced earlier this year and agreements with companies including SpaceX to use its chips in orbit.
Reflex noted that its platform architecture has a specific focus on on-board processing capabilities. The manufacturing startup has been working to expand its manufacturing capabilities after raising a 50 million euro funding round in November of last year.
“Europe needs satellites it can build, control and deploy on its own terms – and it needs them now,” commented Walter Ballheimer, CEO of Reflex Aerospace. “Over the past year, we have shown that our approach works: from our first satellite in orbit to platforms for some of the most demanding constellations in Europe; including platform designs for very-high resolution stereo imaging and orbital data center constellations. We are pleased to welcome Nvidia among our investors as we continue to scale production to meet growing demand.”
Nvidia announced investments into four German startups this week during the Invest in Germany Summit. Nvidia also invested in AI robot company Agile Robots, healthcare tech startup Avelios Medical, Mirelo, an AI startup for audio production.
Nvidia did not disclose the financial terms of the investments.
