DirecTV Adds Vietnamese-Language Channel

By Staff Writer | October 6, 2004

DirecTV [DTV] will be targeting the 1.8 million Vietnamese Americans with its new “VietnameseDirect” service, whose flagship is the Saigon Broadcasting Television Network, reportedly the only 24/7 Vietnamese-language channel to originate from the United States. DirecTV has a variety of pricing and packaging plans available to those interested this network.

While the service only targets a small segment of the U.S. population, a simple addition of such a channel gives the direct-to-home satellite TV broadcaster additional leverage to tap into markets that cable television would have a tough time capturing.
