Extra NileSat Channel

      Al Majd (Glory) was scheduled to begin transmissions at the beginning of Ramadan (16 November). Al Majd is a private-venture enterprise and says it will focus on a variety of programmes for the family. The agreement to carry the channel was signed on 7 November by Amin Basyouni, chairman of the Egyptian Satellite Company, and Sheikh Fahd Bin-Abd al- Rahman al-Shumaymiri, chairman of Al Majd Space Company Ltd. Basyouni pointed out that Al Majd is the 124th service carried on NileSat’s two craft. A radio service targeting children will shortly be added.

      The Mubarak Academy for Media Production, a new educational centre, has been approved as one of the activities of the Egyptian Company for Media Production in the 6th of October City, Egyptian Minister of Information Safwat al-Sharif said on November 8. President Mubarak is due to open the academy’s educational activities next Spring, said Sharif.
