Rocket Lab has introduced the next-generation of its star tracker lineup, expanding the company’s component offerings. The new High-Performance Star Tracker (ST-HP), is designed for longer duration spacecraft missions.

Rocket Lab has flown more than 185 star tracker units overall; it’s heritage model ST-RT has more than 175 units on orbit since 2013. It also offers the ST-HV model, designed for more rapid production, which has more than 14 units on orbit.

The company said the new ST-HP has advanced radiation hardening. It is designed for more than 50 kRad, board-level Total Irradiation Dose in order to maintain precise spacecraft pointing and payload stability during long-term missions.

“Rocket Lab continues to evolve our end-to-end offerings by introducing state-of-the-art solutions to meet the changing needs of commercial and government missions,” said Brad Clevenger, president of Rocket Lab USA. “By building on decades of experience, we’re delivering a more resilient product that gives customers the high accuracy and performance they need without added cost, lead time, or manufacturing risk.”
