SSC Space and Kuva Space have struck a regional collaboration that aims to strengthen space-based capabilities in various areas of the space value chain in the Nordic region. SSC announced the partnership, April 22. SSC Space is based in Sweden and Kuva Space is based in Finland.
The two companies have signed a letter of intent (LOI) to explore a strategic collaboration focused on commercial, institutional, and security-related space opportunities. They plan to cooperate across key areas of space infrastructure, mission development, and security-related capabilities.
Under the LOI, the parties will explore opportunities for joint participation in commercial, defense, and institutional space programs with a particular focus on the Nordic region. The dialogue will include SSC Space providing ground segment services for Kuva’s growing constellation; hosted payload opportunties; tech development and future mission architectures; launch and early orbit services; and downstream analytics.
“The potential collaboration is intended to leverage the complementary strengths of both parties, supporting closer Finnish and Swedish cooperation in security-related space activities while also advancing their respective commercial interests. Kuva Space is a driving force in the thriving and innovative Finnish space market,” Charlotta Sund, president and CEO of SSC Space, said in a statement.
