VinSpace, a space company recently formed as part of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, signed a launch contract with SpaceX to launch in-orbit demonstration satellites on a Transporter rideshare mission in 2027.

Vingroup established VinSpace as a company in November of 2025 to produce planes and spacecraft, according to Reuters reporting at the time. Tuesday’s launch contract was the first press release from Vingroup referencing VinSpace.

The company aims to become a full-stack aerospace company with capabilities from satellite design and manufacturing to assembly, integration and testing (AIT), launch mission management, satellite operations, and downstream space data products and services. It plans to Vietnam’s sovereign space capabilities, pursue international collaboration, and commercialize space technologies.

VinSpace’s announcement did not specify a specific number of satellites for the rideshare mission or what capabilities the satellites will demonstrate. VinSpace is responsible for the R&D, manufacturing and on-orbit operation of its satellites.

“This contract with SpaceX is an important milestone in VinSpace’s long-term strategy to help build Vietnam’s space ecosystem and strengthen the country’s position within the global space economy,” VinSpace CEO Thu Vu said in a statement. Thu was appointed VinSpace CEO in January of this year. He previously led the first Vietnamese-developed nanosatellite, F-1, which was deployed from the ISS in 2012.
