[Satellite TODAY 12-08-09] Spanish service provider Satconxion signed a 663,000 euro ($984,000) deal with Avanti Communications to purchase additional Hylas 1 broadband capacity, the company announced Dec. 7.
Satconxion, which already has purchased capacity on Hylas 1, said it decided to lock in current pricing for a much larger volume of bandwidth over a longer term. Avanti’s Hylas 1 satellite is set to launch in 2010.
“Satconxion shares our view that Hylas will sell out quickly and, in more than quadrupling their commitment to lock in availability to support their expansion plans, they are delivering us a strong vote of confidence,” Avanti CEO David Williams, said in a statement.
