[Satellite TODAY 10-22-09] German satellite operator Nynex upgraded its DVB-S2 broadband satellite network infrastructure with Evolution XLC Line Cards, X5 Satellite Routers and iDX 2.0 operating software from iDirect, the manufacturer announced Oct. 19.
The upgraded network will use iDirect’s 2-D 16-State inbound coding capability, which works to increase inbound IP throughput over DVB-S2/ACM gains by 10 percent to 20 percent. Nynex also implemented a hub switching engine which can handle 1.4 terabytes of traffic and a proxy blade system to boost Web browsing speed to strengthen its overall network.
"When we first launched an iDirect network we were introducing reliable high-speed connectivity to a bandwidth-starved region. Today, as our customer base continues to grow and their needs expand to include more advanced business applications, we need to fulfill a broader range of customer demands," Andreas Buxbaum, managing director of Nynex, said in a statement.
