[Satellite TODAY 09-18-09] Iridium Satellite has certified Beam Communications’ SatDock 9555 fully-integrated docking station for the Iridium 9555 satellite phone, Beam announced Sept. 16.
    The SatDock aims to enable ease-of-use for the Iridium 9555 satellite phone in a wide range of applications in the land transport, maritime and aeronautical sectors, allowing indoor use for connection to remote staff members in the case of an emergency or disaster.

    According to Beam, the SatDock unit also hopes to cut costs for users when compared to landline-originated calls with SatDock calls costing as low as 10 percent of the cost of landline-originated calls.
