[Satellite Today 02-25-09] Australian telco Optus has launched the Thuraya GSM/satellite dual mode handset in Australia, the company announced Feb. 24.
The handset allows customers to use the same phone on both the Optus GSM and Thuraya satellite networks and is being sold in selected Optus retail outlets.
“We are committed to increasing our customer’s access to the latest technology and most innovative mobile solutions, especially in the more remote and regional areas of Australia,” Michael Smith, acting managing director of Optus, said in a statement.
