[Via Satellite 01-23-2015] Asia Broadcast Satellite (ABS) has created a new executive position focusing on South Asia and has appointed Rajiv Khattar as the president. Rajiv brings more than 20 years in the cable and satellite industries, having spent 10 years at Dish TV India as president of projects. He accrued significant experience in business, operations, regulatory procedures and strategy development from this role. Khattar held a variety of other leadership positions with other cable and telecommunication companies prior to Dish.

ABS operates a fleet of six satellites and has procured two Boeing 702SP satellites to launch this year. The first, ABS 3A was recently completed and stacked for a dual launch in the coming months. The second, ABS 2A will launch later in the year and has a strong focus on India. ABS hopes to leverage Khattar’s knowledge of this market.

“Rajiv brings along a wealth of experience of the cable and satellite industry with extensive knowledge of the Direct-To-Home (DTH) and broadcast sector in the India market. His expertise and leadership skills will greatly contribute to our development of new business for the market,” said Tom Choi, CEO of ABS.
