Satellite network integrator and service provider Datacom signed a contract with ST Engineering iDirect earlier this week to utilize the Intuition ground system and deliver cloud native services for satellite operators across the Asia Pacific region.
Datacom said that ST Engineering’s Intuition system will help it improve bandwidth efficiency, enable multi orbit operations, accelerate network modernization without vendor lock in, and introduce a “bring-your-own hardware” architecture for customers.
Under the terms of the contract order, ST Engineering iDirect will equip Datacom to manage hardware procurement, full lifecycle services, and ground segment integration. Datacom will access Intuition under a subscription model, along with technical enablement, validation testing, and ongoing lifecycle support.
“By moving to a cloud-native, software-defined environment, we’re giving our customers immediate agility and the ability to evolve without the limitations of traditional hardware cycles. This deployment is the foundation of our Satellite Modernization Blueprint—a scalable model that helps operators increase efficiency, optimize bandwidth, and compete in a multi orbit future,” Datacom CEO Boris Ng said in the announcement.
