[Via Satellite 08-11-2014] Azercosmos Open Joint Stock Company, the state-owned satellite operator of Azerbaijan, has signed an agreement with Afghan Paiwastoon Media Communication (APMC) to broadcast Batur TV. The Free-to-Air (FTA) channel will broadcast over Azerspace 1 at 46 degrees east.

APMC  began using Azercosmos’ satellite on an occassional use basis during Afghanistan’s 2014 presidential elections. The broadcaster has since agreed to a longer commitment, and is in talks for additional Afghan channels.

Launched in 2013, Azerspace 1 supports 24 C-band transponders and 12 Ku-band transponders. The satellite provides coverage over Europe, Central Asia, and several African countries.
