The agreement follows several months of testing at the technology labs at Globecomm headquarters, as well as field trials at Globecomm Europe’s teleport. The initial deployment will provide optimized Internet access for crew welfare on maritime vessels. Xiplink CEO Jack Waters said in a statement that the company “is excited and proud” of its new commercial relationship with Globecomm.

In other Globecomm news, the company announced earlier this week it has reached a maritime industry milestone, providing connectivity services to 3,500 ships globally. Globecomm Maritime provides a wide array of connection platforms, from L-band to GSM and VSAT, as well as a suite of value-added software products, aligning its service provision to fast-changing customer needs.
