KVH Activates Mini-VSAT Broadband in Australia, New Zealand

KVH Industries activated its mini-VSAT Broadband service in the Australian and New Zealand maritime region following completion of satellite testing, the company announced. KVH’s mini-VSAT activation aims to support broadband networks for both leisure boaters and commercial ships in the region.

KVH and ViaSat offer Voice over IP and Internet service internationally through mini-VSAT. ViaSat markets the service under the Yonder brand to business and commercial aircraft.
 

Planetsky Introduces VelocitySAT Service

Planetsky has introduced VelocitySAT, the company’s satellite communications portfolio and service offering. The portfolio aims to offer cellular and PSTN/PTT backhaul, VoIP, IP backbone, broadcasting, VPNs, virtual DSL, disaster recovery and space segment availability to carriers, enterprises, broadcasters and government agencies.

Planetsky said the portfolio represents a shift in its product and service offerings strategy, driven by the need to alter its business model for the global recession. Planetsky now is focused on expanding its markets by acquiring additional footprint coverage while enhancing services and infrastructure.
