Vizada launched the ThurayaIP broadband mobile satellite service. The launch follows an extensive development phase with Thuraya to fine-tune the service and link it to Vizada’s network infrastructure. ThurayaIP transmits data at speeds up to 444 kilobits per second (kbps) and has advanced streaming video capabilities at speeds up to 384 kbps.
Additionally, Vizada, along with service provider partner SeaMobile Europe, have combined ThurayaIP with its own applications and solutions to provide a packaged service to the France24 news channel.
The combination aims to enable France24 reporters to perform high-quality live broadcasts as well as send emails and use Internet from remote locations. France24 reporters use SeaMobile Europe’s Media ClipWay end-to-end software solution in order to send live and pre-recorded film over the ThurayaIP terminal.
On July 16, Thuraya introduced two features for the ThurayaIP broadband solution. Users of ThurayaIP will have the ability to control multimedia buffering and determine the base IP address of terminals. Thuraya said disabling the multimedia buffering would eliminate substantial amounts of traffic delay.
