The U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced June 27 it would open the East Coast Node of its Coastwatch program in Annapolis, Md., which will provide access to near real-time satellite data. The data collected will include sea surface temperatures, ocean surface winds and chlorophyll levels from the Chesapeake Bay, East Coast and ultimately across the Atlantic Ocean.
