Ball Aerospace Completes Arrays For NPOESS
Ball Aerospace said it completed the focal plane arrays for the Ozone Mapping and Profiler Suite (OMPS), one of more than a dozen instruments that will fly as part of the National Polar-orbiting Operational Environment Satellite System (NPOESS). OMPS is designed to provide uninterrupted global measurements of ozone concentration in the Earth’s stratosphere for more than 12 years. It will replace the Solar Backscatter Ultraviolet Radiometer 2, a Ball-built ozone monitor flown on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration satellites.
