Intelsat said Phillip Spector has been hired by the company to serve as executive vice president and general counsel. The well-known Washington attorney most recently serves as chairman of the Communications and Technology Group at international law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP.

“We are delighted that a lawyer of Phil’s caliber has decided to join Intelsat at this exciting time in the company’s history,” Intelsat Chairman Conny Kullman said in a prepared statement. “Phil’s wealth of knowledge of international telecommunications issues and his extensive experience in the Washington political and regulatory arenas makes him particularly well-suited to guide our company’s legal, regulatory and government affairs activities on a global basis.”
