Satellite Today learned the Express AM-1 satellite, built by the Reshetnev scientific research association, was successfully launched aboard a Proton-K launch vehicle from the Baikonour Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan at 10:11 p.m. GMT on Oct. 29. The satellite will transmit television and radio signals as well as provide telephone and Internet links to Russia.
