India scheduled the launch of its Edusat satellite for mid-September. The launch of the satellite, dedicated to delivering educational content to Indian users, will be a milestone for the Indian Space Research Organization in that it will be using the geo-synchronous satellite launch vehicle (GSLV) for the first time for an operational satellite launch. Two previous launches of the GSLV were for developmental purposes only.
