DirecTV Won’t Contest FCC Fine

By Staff Writer | June 22, 2004

A DirecTV Inc. [DTV] spokesman told Satellite Today today that the company will not challenge a recently proposed $87,500 fine by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The federal agency levied the fine on June 18 against DirecTV after company employees began repositioning the DirecTV 3 satellite without FCC authorization. DirecTV had requested authority to move the satellite on Sept. 3, 2003, but did not wait for FCC authorization before beginning to move the satellite the following day, according to an agency press release.
