Raytheon Co. [RTN] received a $33 million order to produce submarine high-data-rate (Sub HDR) multi-band satellite communication systems for the U.S. Navy, which has the option to up the order to $50 million. Sub HDR gives submarines high-data-rate, multi-band satellite communications capabilities by simply raising a mast to just about the waterline while the sub is submerged at periscope depth. Raytheon said it’s delivered more than 50 Sub HDR systems under previous contracts worth more than $130 million.
