Globalstar Retains Access To Allocated Frequencies

By Staff Writer | June 14, 2004

Globalstar LLC officials today said the Federal Communications Commission adopted a Report and Order with new rules for “Big LEO” mobile satellite systems that will allow Globalstar to continue using all of its currently assigned frequencies – 1,610 MHz to 1,621.35 MHz — for transmissions from handsets to Globalstar satellites. In addition, the FCC allowed the company to keep using 2,483.5 MHz to 2,500 MHz for transmissions from Globalstar satellites to the handsets. The order does require that Globalstar share its limited frequencies with other services.
