BSkyB intends to launch a Free-To-Air (FTA) satellite service proposition in the United Kingdom later this year. The offering will comprise 200 TV and radio channels, and interactive services that will be available without a monthly subscriber fee. Consumers will have to pay a one-time charge of $274 for installation and reception equipment. While there is no obligation for these consumers to take pay-TV services, BSkyB anticipates some of these consumers eventually will upgrade to pay-TV services.
