SES Americom officials today said the inaugural program distribution aboard the A2100 Lockheed Martin [LMT] spacecraft began at 4:01 a.m. EST. SES officials said the start of service marks the in-orbit ribbon-cutting for HD-Prime, America’s premier cable neighborhood that reaches more than 80 million households. AMC-10 will deliver half of the high definition (HD) and standard definition programming delivered by HD-Prime. The other half, currently distributed by the Satcom C-3 bird, ultimately will be delivered by AMC-11, which is scheduled for a May 19 launch.
