Arinc Inc. officials said today they would provide a new global satellite telephone service to support the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command‘sfleet of heavy transport and tanker aircraft. Satellite Direct Plus is a simplified telephone technology developed by Telenor Satellite Services. Users of Satellite Direct Plus can place satellite calls directly to any Inmarsat mobile terminal anywhere in the world by dialing a pre-assigned terrestrial number. The service is available to all U.S. government and U.S. Department of Defense aircraft users under DSP contract number DCA200-01-D-5001.
