WorldSpace Corp., a Washington D.C.-based satellite radio company, is leading a team of companies that are bidding on a $98 million Department of Defense contract to rebuild Iraq’s news and media infrastructure. The other companies participating in the bid include TFS Group, The Rendon Group, East-West News Service, Oracle Surveillance, and Harris Corp. The contract is scheduled to begin on January 1, 2004, and has two six-month extension options.
