France’s La Poste Orders Satellite-based Interactive Kiosks

By Staff Writer | December 3, 2003

France’s La Poste is using satellite-based interactive kiosks supplied by direct-to-home satellite operator SES Astra and broadband satellite operator Satlynx. The “Cyberkiosque” offers access to interactive broadband satellite services based upon the European DVB-RCS standard.

Cyberkiosque uses interactive terminals installed in public areas such as post offices and townhalls, making a range of web-based services available to the general public. The technology enables administrations and local authorities to use Cyberkiosque interactive terminals linked to the Astra satellite network. Via a touch screen interface, users can access public services, multimedia tools and the interactive services provided by La Poste.
