The National Aeronautics and Space Administration has purchased Integral’s [Nasdaq: ISYS] SKYLIGHT ground terminal system for receiving and processing satellite Earth science data. The system includes a receiver and data processing, storage, and analysis software. Through SKYLIGHT’s analysis and data distribution capabilities, Integral hopes to assist NASA’s Earth science investments in remote sensing technologies.

The system, which is scheduled for delivery in April, incorporates NASA science algorithms for a myriad of science data products, including fire detection maps, volcano eruption alerts, and atmospheric profiles. It downloads and processes data from the MODIS Earth imaging instrument aboard two NASA Earth observation system satellites, Terra and Aqua.
