Phantom Space has appointed Worth Wray as chief operating officer with responsibility for day-to-day operations, operational efficiency, capital formation, and scaling business processes, as the company works to ramp up production and establish launch cadence.

Wray joined Phantom Space as chief strategy officer earlier this year and had served as an investor and advisory board member for the company as well. His background spans hedge funds and deep-tech venture investing and he previously worked as a partner and macro analyst at Corriente Advisors.

This comes after earlier this year, Phantom Space acquired assets and intellectual property from Vector Launch to speed the development of its Daytona launch vehicle. The two companies are linked by founder Jim Cantrell, who founded Vector in 2016 and then founded Phantom in 2019 after Vector paused operations and declared bankruptcy.

Phantom said in an Aug. 20 release its key priorities are to establish high-volume production and high launch cadence for the Daytona family of launch vehicles, commercially rollout both Phantom Cloud and a Space App Store for satellite constellations.

“Worth has the rare ability to connect long-term vision and bold strategy with disciplined execution,” Cantrell said in a release. “As we accelerate toward initial launch followed by high cadence and expand our commercial offerings, his leadership will be critical in ensuring we scale efficiently and deliver on our commitments to customers, partners, and shareholders.”
